A level-one Spiritborn does not need a stash full of lucky drops to feel good in Season 14. This Stinger setup works straight out of the gate, which is why it suits a fresh character so well. You can pick up whatever weapons and armour happen to drop, sell the rest, and keep moving. A few sensible D4 items upgrades can help later, but the build's real strength is its loop: make Vigor, spread Poison, stay alive, repeat. It is sturdy enough for Hard Kurast Undercity runs without asking for a unique or a must-have Aspect.
Build Around a Simple Combat Loop
Start with Thunderspike as your Basic Skill. It is not there to carry your damage; it keeps your Vigor flowing. Take Enhanced Thunderspike and the movement-based Vigor option, then grab the movement speed and Lightning Dancer choices when they open up. Keep moving between packs and it will pay you back. Before Potent Sting becomes available, Quill Volley is a handy stopgap because its spread clears cramped rooms nicely. Once Potent Sting is unlocked, swap to Stinger and don't look back. Stinger's healing-on-Vulnerable-hit option matters more than it first appears, especially when the screen gets busy.
Keep Scourge Running
Scourge is the skill that makes the whole setup feel safe rather than flimsy. Cast it often. Hive Mind keeps nearby enemies affected, gives you damage reduction, and turns messy fights into something manageable. It also feeds Vigor back over time, so it supports Stinger instead of competing with it. Ravager should be active whenever you're pushing into a dense room. Its cooldown benefits, extra Vigor generation, and damage boost make every part of the rotation smoother. Armored Hide is best saved for a bad moment: a stun, a frozen spot, or an elite pack that has boxed you in.
| Skill | Main job | Useful upgrade focus | | Thunderspike | Vigor and Vulnerable setup | Enhanced and movement-based Vigor | | Stinger | Poison damage and clearing | Potent Sting, healing, larger area | | Scourge | Defense and resource recovery | Hive Mind | | Armored Hide | Escape from dangerous control effects | Barrier and Unstoppable effect |
Eagle Hall and Practical Gear Choices
Put Eagle in both Spirit Hall slots. That choice makes your skills count as Eagle skills, so attacks and evades keep firing Storm Feathers and applying Vulnerable. It is a clean match for Stinger, since hitting Vulnerable enemies can also heal you. On gear, do not get precious while levelling. Maximum Life, Armour, and resistances on chest and pants are usually worth more than a tiny damage roll. Look for Cooldown Reduction on your helm, gloves, and amulet whenever it shows up. Poison Damage is the damage stat to favour, though staying alive will get you more experience than chasing a perfect tooltip.
Undercity Runs and Mercenary Support
In Kurast Undercity, pace matters. Tap Thunderspike while moving, trigger Ravager, throw out Scourge, then spend the Vigor on Stinger until the pack disappears. The Hunter is great when elites pile up, since its strikes heal you and may reset its own cooldown after kills. Hire Raheir with Ground Slam, Raheir's Aegis, Bastion, and Inspiration for a useful defensive cushion. Aldkin works well as reinforcement when Field of Languish is tied to Scourge. If you want to patch a weak slot before another run, D4 items for sale can cover that gap, while the rotation itself remains easy to play and strong through level 70.
